Ensemble initium on
Mladi by Leos Janacek

Born in 2005 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, in the chamber music class of Maurice Bourgue, Ensemble Initium is a wind ensemble created around the classical octet  with variable geometry occurs in quintet, sextet ... to large sets of Strauss or Dvoràk. It is composed of young music professionals, each having perfected the practice of their instrument with the best current representatives of the French school of woodwind and brass (including Jacques Tys, Pascal Moraguès, André Cazalet, Marc Trenel, Gilbert Audin ...)

The wind octet is an unusual setting yet its repertoire is rich and wide. Indeed, the major pieces that are in C minor serenade kilowatts and 388 kilowatts 375 million in Eb Mozart are emblematic of the new interest generated for wind ensembles at the end of the 18th century. They are both the result of sound research initiated by the instrumentalists and composers from Bohemia and Moravia (Wendt, Sedlak, Stadler, Krommer) and also a reference for all the composers writing for winds. Beethoven too composed for two oboes, two clarinets, two horns, two bassoons, also in 1793 wrote an Octet in Eb M. Many arrangements will be made for, sometimes by the players themselves (Mozart opera, Fidelio , 4 and 7 Beethoven, Barber of Seville, L'Italiana in Algeri ...) Not to mention the countless serenades and partitas of composers now forgotten Franz Vincenz Krommer such. Works for wind instruments by Mozart to influence Anton Dvorak and Richard Strauss. As evidenced by the serenade opus 44 by the Czech composer and compositions for winds of the author of Rosenkavalier.

Also taking up the tradition inherited from the performers-arrangers of the 18th century all work has begun transcript romantic and modern works. So it can interpret the music of composers as diverse as Mendelssohn, Brahms, Wagner, Bizet, Grieg, Elgar, Satie, Prokofiev, de Falla and Korngold ...

Ensemble Initium is winner of the 2006 European Music Competition organized by the FNAPEC Paris and graduated in June 2009 the"Premier Prix" in Chamber Music with distinction unanimously with honors at the Paris Conservatoire

Invited by France Musique, all occurred in emissions "in the courtyard of the Great", "Live from the Festivals," "Generation Young Performers". He is also invited to perform at festivals and prestigious venues (Comminges Festival, Festival Orlando, Church St Etienne du Mont Paris, Festival Music of Heaven, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Festival
Deauville, Venice Palazzetto Bru Zane ..) His recent recording of the complete chamber music for winds of George Onslow, noticed by critics, was awarded a "Choc" magazine Classica.

Supported by the Groupe Tiru and record label Timpani, Ensemble Initium has been resident at the Fondation Singer-Polignac Paris as from 2007.
